Hebdomadal Personas

So what in the world is a "Hebdomadal Persona?" Just a fancy-pants way of saying "Character of the Week" - that's all! Each week, we're hoping to show you a new character that could be, or has been crafted for use in the game of Untold. Feel free to use them as examples of how to create characters, free characters for your own games, or whatever. Our intent is to give you cool, free stuff that makes your game better -- while, at the same time, showing the world how flexible and easy to use Untold really is!

As with all of the characters that we present to you on Untoldthegame.com, each persona is only ONE of the infinite possibilities for the character. It is provided to inspire and guide you, NOT force you into using this character "as is". Feel free to use the characters as a starting point for your own, as a featured character in your own game, or not at all -- it is completely up to you!

However you decide to use the characters, please provide us with feedback - comment on our website or drop us a line in our forums, or submit your own character write-up; we'd love to hear from you!

If you like these Hebdomadal Personas, please let us know by leaving a comment - or post in our forums and let us know what you think! Post your own characters to - you never know - we just might highlight one of YOUR creations, and make it an official Hebdomadal Persona too!

Looking forward to hearing from you, and seeing what Untold inspires you to create! As always - don't let your story go Untold!

Scree

Aliases: Black Forest Ghost, Spirit of the Woods
Race: Klik Tripod
Aspects: Body 4, Soul 4
Sex: Neuter; Ht: 6' 4"; Wt: 700 lbs

"Scree-eeeee!!!"

Character Description/Notes: //Status: Flux-storm has terminated.\\--//ALERT!: Entire Node has experienced inter-dimensional displacement!\\--//Status: Preliminary scans indicate 87.2% probability of transference to primary Apoc biosphere.\\--//Directive: Dispatch all scout units to investigate, identify threats, and locate resources.\\

//ALERT!: Contact with scout unit 5C-233 severed!\\--//Directive: Reestablish contact.\\

//Status: Attempt to reestablish contact failed.\\--//Conclusion: 99.6% probability that Scout unit 5C-233 has been destroyed.\\

When a Flux-storm transported a small Klik Node to the Rocky Mountain Region of North America several months ago, 5C-233 ("Scree") was among the scouts deployed to explore the area. Scree was traveling to the southeast of the Node, toward a dense forest (known to the local inhabitants as Black Forest). As he neared the edge of the woods, he was attacked by a pair of Flux horrors. Retaliating with null pulses and relying heavily upon his weakening displacement field, Scree managed to drive the creatures away. Disoriented and severely damaged during the encounter, Scree stumbled off into the woods before collapsing.

Today's update is without a doubt one of our well known and loved Hebdomadal Personas, however, this update is slightly different. The Hebdomadal Persona we present to you today is a part of our upcoming new Untold Mini Campaign Setting, Steamfunk. We think that you'll find it both reassuringly familiar while at the same time: surprising, while tantalizingly new and exotic! Regardless, we hope that you enjoy it and that you will likewise enjoy Steamfunk - coming soon - and that you'll let us know what you think in our new Steamfunk section of the forums!

Ursimian

Alias: Zu Champion, Zu Lord
Race: L'na Twilight
Aspects: Mind 2, Body 3, Soul 2
Sex: Male-aspect; Height: 6 ft. (at the shoulder); Weight: 550 lbs.

"Mother! Tell us again about Ursimian!"

The small den exploded with frantic sounds and movement: scores of small voices filled the air with clamor and din. "Yes Mother! Yes Mother! Tell us! Tell us!" The small reptilian-insectoid tyke who'd started it all smiled, his forked tongue tapping the insides of his shuttered teeth.

The aged matron of the clan of Twilights sighed a bit to herself. She was weary, but not so weary as to spread the tale of the great Champion of Zu - one of the foremost of her clan's for-bearers. She settled herself into her nest, preening a few of her scarlet and sable feathers. "All right, my hatchlings. Come and settle and I shall tell you the tale of how Ursimian became to be!"

Again a surging cacophony of frenetic behavior. "A new tale, Mother?!? This is wonderful!" Another of her brood, a small porcupine-quilled spider-monkey moth cred, jumping up and down excitedly.

"Yes a new tale - one that shall not arrive until silence goes before it". Her feline-ursine features smiled slightly as she waited for her little ones to understand and adhere to her gentle instructions. Finally, the stirring brood calmed and settled like the still waters of a grotto pool, and the tale began...

Elijah Hassan

Elijah Hassan was the stereotypical battle scarred veteran. Beginning his service in the IDF when he was just in his teens, Hassan had served as a ranger and tracker for nearly thirty years. A member of the elite Hammer of Heaven corps, there were few things Hassan hadn't seen and fewer he hadn't killed. Covered in countless scars from countless battles, Sergeant Hassan was a legend among the IDF, even refusing promotion so that he could continue to focus solely on killing the creatures that threatened the IDF. Knowing the Israeli countryside like the back of his hand, Hassan was renowned for hunting down, rooting out, and killing more hostiles than any other IDF member. But everything was about to change for Hassan.

Fanonical? What?

Fanonical posts are a new thing here at Untoldthegame.com, and as far as we know, something new to RPG's in general. We've talked about our Open Campaign Setting from "Day 1" around here, but we've not made much fuss of it so far. Well, that's about to end...

Basically, "fanonical" is a word we've coined based on the term canonical. Something that is canonical, or canon, is something that is accepted as being the truth or the "way that it is". In RPG's, something that is "canon" is something that has been "blessed and sanctioned" by whomever owns the IP. For instance, if you know anything about the Dresden Files RPG, you know that Dresden is a guy, not a girl - stuff like that is "canon".

Grekhen

Alias: Corpsetaker, Flamerot
Race: Manus Unguis
Aspects: Body 8
Sex: None; Height: 1.7 m; Weight: 500 kg

"Heheheh... All things end! All things fall apart! And we are there to feast!"

Icewind

Alias: The Ghost of the North
Race: L'na Dawn
Aspects: Body 2, Mind 2, Soul 3
Sex: Male Aspect; Height: 4’0” ft at the shoulder; Weight: 200 lbs.

Character Description/Notes: The L'na reaction to Apoc-Earth has been mixed. Some have come and carved out a life aiding the Dreaming, or roaming the new wilds of the post-Event Earth. Others have come and put their powers to good use, even to the extent of becoming leaders of other beings and being worshiped as gods. Other have taken a decidedly negative turn, and some of their actions can be termed only as "evil".

Sharps

Alias: Sharps (real name unknown)
Race: Krieg
Aspects: Body 2, Mind 2
Sex: Male; Ht: 6'3"; Wt: 213 lbs.

"If you can be cut, you can be hurt. And if you can be hurt, you can be killed."

Almost two decades ago, the NAU conducted a daring transatlantic raid on a Novus Europa installation near the rebuilt seaport of Bremerhaven. While the intelligence gathered was the primary goal, the soldiers discovered a newly hatched krieg in a laboratory. The fledgling was brought back and adopted by one of the corpsmen, Sergeant "Bonesaw" Bahrnum, and the military treatment facility (MTF) near Fort Wayne, Indiana became its new home. Growing up, the strange adoptee repaid Bonesaw's kindness by cleaning up around the hospital and tending to other menial tasks. Unbeknownst to his superiors, the sergeant would allow the still unnamed youngster inside the OR. Despite his rank, Bonesaw was as capable as any surgeon, and proved an excellent teacher for the curious krieg, who quickly learned how to tend the wounded and would help with triage whenever a patrol returned from a mission. Since the NAU were always in dire straits, the MTF was glad to have another medic available, and the scarlet-skinned foundling eagerly worked to heal those who rescued him years ago.

Nep

Alias: Red, Hooknose, Paddlefoot
Race: Apoc Churl
Aspects: Body 6, Soul 3
Sex: Male; Height: 5'0"; Weight: 600 lbs

"Life comes from the waves, and She takes it all back. I glean Her leavings."

Description/Notes: I am Nep, named by the last shaman of my tribe in honor of an ancient sea-god who lived before the Event. My blood is the blood of the Churl, a booming red tide in my veins that buoys me and connects me to this living world. My soul is the son of the tides and the restless waves. I am Nep, and I am the shaman of my people, born to the oracle of wind and wave, and I speak the sea's wisdom and power to them.

Sl'heera

Alias: Quicksloth, The Verdant Sage
Race: L'na Dawn
Aspects: Mind 4, Soul 6
Sex: Male-aspect; Height: 4'1" (shoulder); Weight: 800 lbs.

"Individual lives are fragile things; life itself is eternal and unending."

Description/Notes: A creature of the verdant jungles of Ai, Sl'heera of the L'na Dawns is an apparent contradiction at first glance. Blending the hindquarters of the fiercely muscled and notoriously swift cheetah and the lazy features of a great sloth, he appears to be a ludicrous chimera, perhaps some failed experiment to copy the L'na by High-bred scientists. A closer look shows the merging of the disparate animal parts into a fluid whole, however, and every movement is deliberate, considered, and suggestive of a coiled grace and power that dares observers to try mocking him.
