Born Election Day, Nov 4th 1975, Robert Brannon Hall “elected” to pop out 19 days early. Incidentally the first and last time Brannon was early for ANYTHING. (Even this bio for this site was late!) Born and raised in the south in a small rule area along the outskirts of the city of Birmingham, Alabama, it became apparent at a young age that Brannon (or HALL, as he is most fondly called because of a certain "other white meat" that shared the same name as he did), was quite different from the other children around him. His imagination found root in books, art, and the world around him. Fascinated by art, his parents bought him a finger paint set at age 4 and from there, there was no turning back.
Hall’s love of the arts grew throughout his high school years. Between writing and drawing, the imagination that so defined him as a child continued to grow as well. In the mid-1990’s, after graduating high school, Hall found himself thrust in to the company of a certain Brannon Hollingsworth. (Please read his bio, but DON'T stare at the picture, he’s self-conscious about the hat...)
The two found that not only did they share a name but the same passion for the arts as well, especially the love of gaming! The world of roleplay was not a new one to Hall, who'd been gaming for a number of years prior. He quickly learned that Brannon's style of gaming fit perfectly with his passion for the arts and mighty bond was formed. Hall found that Brannon was a fabulous writer and these works consequently led him to draw amazing works.
Hall, too, found himself drawn into the strong circle of friendship that Brannon was a part of, a circle that would eventually spawn the world-renowned, critically-acclaimed, masterful minds known as the Wandering Men.
After a five-year sabbatical down south, working for a company run by a mouse, Hall has returned to the land where he was born.
Currently Hall lives with his beloved wife in a old castle in the highlands of Scotland with seven. (I did mention the wild imagination thing earlier, didn’t I? Ok, so I don’t live in Scotland and it sure ain't a castle but I DO love my beautiful bride!! Believe it or not, the seven cat thing is actually true! Don’t ask, long story.)
By day, he is a mild-mannered graphic designer, a job he truly loves; not only for the work involved, but due to the people he works with, as well. By night he dons the multi-leveled hat of Husband, Illustrator, and Muralist. (They call me H.I.M.!...Please insert superhero pose here. Chest out, rippling muscles flexed, and cape blowing in the wind…. Image can be found in my mind. Please knock twice before entering…)
Hall continues to work on improving his art skills and his ability to adapt them to meet any style a client may need. His true love though, is simply bringing to light the fantastic worlds (and their inhabitants) which dwell in that little corner of his mind called imagination.
Hall has done illustration projects for several D20 publications, including numerous titles from: Bastion Press, Mystic Eye Games, Bottled Imp Games, and Thunderhead Games.
Online works including: Planewalker.com (tons of monster pics), ENWorld (Map of War of the Burning Sun) and wowweezowwee.com (Misfits campaign map, some character art, and short stories... if ya don’t know about it, go check it out… I’ll wait right here…If you actually went, it rocks don’t it!?! If ya didn’t … shame on you, ya don’t know what you are missing!!)
Fine art includes various mural art pieces for Walt Disney World Co., various logo design and media creations for companies and authors, such as Austin Boyd’s "Mars Hill Classified" trilogy.
Skein of Shadows will be Hall’s first published novel in both written format and cover art.
